Hosted by Berkeley RDI and in conjunction with the LLM Agents MOOC, this event aims to bring together students, researchers, and practitioners to build and showcase innovative work in LLM agents, grow the AI agent community, and advance LLM agent technology. It is open to the public and will be held both virtually and in-person at UC Berkeley. Dr. Rumman Chowdhury is judging.

Successfully Harnessing AI in Africa
December 2nd-4th, 2024
Humane Intelligence was excited to participate in this important event, where leaders from government, civil society, and private sector discussed how African nations can effectively harness artificial intelligence to drive socioeconomic development, and mitigate the risks of a widening digital divide.
Our discussions explored the transformative potential of AI and cloud technologies across Africa, policies, skills development, technology and infrastructure, and other strategic steps needed to empower African countries to successfully adopt this technology. Additionally, the event spotlighted the crucial role of partnership between governments, regional organizations, international organizations and the private sector in fostering an enabling environment for Africa's AI journey.

Humane Intelligence partnered with UNESCO in a hands-on educational and informational exercise on technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV)

Humane Intelligence recently partnered with UNESCO in Paris for a red-teaming exercise focused on Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV). Held on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls, the event aimed to identify vulnerabilities in generative AI models and explore their potential misuse in perpetuating bias, discrimination, and violence against women and girls.

AISA Australian Cyber Conference 2024

Algorithmic Bias Bounty #2: Counterterrorism
November 7th, 2024 1pm ET
Building on the success of our first challenge, which All Tech Is Human partnered on, this second Challenge is in partnership with Revontulet and is focused on counterterrorism in computer vision (CV) applications. Centering on far-right extremist groups in Europe, the Nordic region, and beyond and the rise of AI-generated content, the goal is to train a CV model to understand the ways in which hateful image-propaganda can be disguised and manipulated to evade detection on social media platforms. NIST - CAMLIS Red Teaming Event
October 24th-25th, 2024
The Conference on Applied Machine Learning for Information Security (CAMLIS) provides a venue for discussing applied work from researchers in academia, government research labs, national laboratories and FFRDCs, and information security data scientists in the industry. Utilizing a red-teaming format, this project aims to assess the security and robustness of various AI models in the context of office productivity software. The primary focus will be on evaluating the vulnerability of these models to prompt injection attacks and other security threats, and exploring effective mitigation strategies. The project seeks to foster collaboration between AI model owners, security researchers, and the broader AI community to advance the security of AI systems and will culminate in a report or case study documenting the findings and recommendations for improving AI security.

Held alongside the UN General Assembly week, a diverse group of private, public, and social sector leaders and doers will convene to discuss the future of data for social impact and the most pressing issues facing our society today. Participants will hear from speakers and panelists and engage in breakout sessions to dive deeper into the topics they care about, including financial inclusion, climate resilience, AI, and more.

Women LEAD In Action Addressing TFGBV

This event, on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly , convened governments, civil society organizations, women political leaders, and other experts and advocates dedicated to advancing women’s political participation and leadership and addressing TFGBV. We shared our commitments to Women LEAD, showcased our initiatives and resources to address TFGBV, and identified opportunities to drive collective action.

Algorithmic Assessments: Challenges of Red Teaming Generative AI

We are thrilled to participate in Data & Analytics Wednesday on Wednesday, September 11th at 6pm AEST (Sydney, Australia), where our Fellow, Fariza Rashid, will present an introduction to algorithmic assessment and discuss the current challenges in red teaming generative AI models.
Generative AI models hold great potential but also carry significant risks, including the generation of biased, false, harmful, or deceptive content, as well as numerous security vulnerabilities. Red teaming is an adversarial and exploratory method used to evaluate these models, uncovering their weaknesses and improving their robustness. During the session, Fariza will also share insights from the Generative AI public red teaming challenge at Defcon 2023, the largest-ever Generative AI Public event for closed-source API models that Humane Intelligence developed in collaboration with Seed AI and DEFCON AI Village.

NIST-Supported Nationwide AI Red-Teaming Exercise

We are recruiting:
Individuals interested in red teaming models online (for the qualifying exercise) OR in-person
Model developers building generative AI office productivity software, including coding assistants, text and image generators, research tools, and more, and associated blue teams.
Our goal is to demonstrate capabilities to rigorously test and evaluate the robustness, security, and ethical implications of cutting-edge AI systems through adversarial testing and analysis. This exercise is crucial for helping to ensure the resilience and trustworthiness of AI technologies.

Investigative Journalism + AI:

We are partnering with Compiler to host an in-person, one-day writing and reporting workshop in which 10 invited journalists will be trained on Humane Intelligence's open source, no-code test and evaluation platform and then use the tool to research and report original stories. Compiler will publish the finished work.

Hacking Algorithms Around Factuality, Bias, and Misdirection

We partnered with All Tech Is Human to organize a hackathon around our algorithmic bias bounty program, the first of ten. Dr. Rumman Chowdhury moderated a panel on AI governance, crowdsourcing, and community-based responses.
